Flurries of Fun: A Celebration of Positive Behavior

Help me give my students and the entire school a Winter Carnival for following our schoolwide expectations and modeling positive behavior.

My Project

Each quarter our Student Celebration Action Team comes up with an event to celebrate students who have followed our schoolwide expectations at Lake Park, which are part of our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). These expectations include: to be kind, respectful, responsible and ready to learn. At the end of our 2nd quarter in December, we would like to have a school-wide Winter Carnival. The Winter Carnival will serve as a high-impact incentive for students who consistently demonstrate respectful, responsible and safe behavior during quarter 2.

The Student Celebration Action Team will use hanging snowflake swirl decorations and triangle snowflake banners to decorate the courtyard where the carnival will take place creating a winter wonderland of fun.

The following are games and activities that will be included at the carnival: falling snowflake backdrop and snowman photo booth props, pin the nose on the snowman, Christmas tin can toss game, candy cane inflatable limbo, temporary snowflake tattoos, Christmas bean bag ring toss, giant Christmas inflatable bowling game, Christmas light up dart board, matching winter snowflake rubber ducks game, winter penguin sledding disk drop and snow toss banner game.

Our goals for celebrating students:

- Reinforce positive behavior expectations school-wide.

-Increase student motivation and engagement during quarter 2.

-Foster a sense of community and belonging through inclusive celebrations.

This event will not only reward students for their positive behavior, but also strengthen relationships, boost morale, and reinforce the core values of our PBIS framework. With your support, we can create a memorable experience that encourages continued growth, good citizenship and a stronger sense of community among our students.
