I work in a low-income school district in Washington state where 100% of my students receive free meals at school

My students are migrant learners who live on a reservation. They are eager to learn despite the odds they have against them in their lives. At our school, we do everything we can to help them be college and career ready. This includes being people who are hard workers and excited to learn.

My Project

It is no secret that kindergarten is a fun, exciting experience for all students. While we do our best to ensure that students are engaged, it is critical to provide the best atmosphere possible for students to feel calm, safe, and ready to learn.

Students come to kindergarten on a multitude of levels with a multitude of varying needs.

Lighting in our classroom is very bright, and can be distracting. These light covers are one of the best tools to use for students to focus and do their very best. Studies show that fluorescent lighting can cause many issues for young students. These light covers along with the string lights will make all the difference for our classroom.
