My Students

Often times math is a challenge for students (specifically number sense and fluency). Despite teacher led instruction, small group instruction, and fact practice students still struggle with the basics of math. The Common Core standards expect students to use higher level thinking to excel. My hope is that through this project, students will be able to gain number sense and fluency. I believe this project will allow my fourth grade students the opportunity to explore math concepts in a fun and engaging way.

My Project

The Daily Math Fluency kit will provide 180 days of instruction for my students. This will help my students gain a deeper understanding of number sense and will improve their fluency. This kit emphasizes number talks as students can express how they arrive at any given answer. I have been eager to implement this idea in my classroom, so I believe this kit will be the perfect resource. By using this kit I will gain access to a teacher guide, 60 math talks, demonstration manipulatives, and discussion topics (that cover different math strategies). Students will be able to apply their learned math skills to the real world.
