I teach History and AVID at an inner-city career/technical high school in Oregon. My students are a culturally diverse, inquisitive, and dedicated group of individuals who are in need of classroom materials to help take ownership of their learning.
Despite the overwhelming barriers they face on a daily basis, each of my students demonstrate resilience by continuously striving to grow and learn.
Please help my students get the materials they need and deserve to be successful in school. They are full of expression, wisdom, and creativity. Will you help give them a voice?
My Project
Flocabulary is a website that provides an awesome opportunity to introduce, practice, and review concepts related to all areas of academic curriculum. The videos are engaging, relevant, and catchy. Students really enjoying learning new academic content using hip hop videos, animations, lyrics, and engaging lessons.
Donations to this project would improve student engagement because it would provide my students with access to engaging and relevant technology using hip hop songs and lyrics that teach academic content.
We will use Flocabulary to learn new academic vocabulary, teach social studies skills and content, and learn about the world around us with their current event videos. Learning should be engaging, empowering, and inspiring!
