Flow and Grow: Empowering Teens Through Yoga and Mindfulness
Help me give my students access to free yoga and mindfulness sessions on campus. Yoga and mindfulness are beneficial for health, mental health, and overall well-being.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In today’s fast-paced world, high school students face increasing pressure—from academics to social challenges—and their mental health often takes a backseat. Students at my school have the added challenges of poverty, high rates of trauma and adverse childhood experiences, and limited access to resources. Despite these barriers to success, my students are resilient, resourceful, and achieve when they have the tools they need to succeed. Yoga and mindfulness offer powerful tools to help them navigate these challenges with resilience, focus, and emotional balance. With your help, I can offer my student access to these tools at school.
By integrating yoga and mindfulness into the school environment, we can provide students with a space to breathe, reset, reconnect, and regulate so they can be ready to learn.
Research shows that practicing yoga and mindfulness improves concentration, reduces stress and anxiety, and enhances overall physical and emotional well-being. These benefits not only boost academic performance but also foster a sense of inner calm and confidence that will guide them far beyond the classroom.
Your support will help us create a nurturing, supportive space where students can learn these life-changing practices. The yoga mats, straps, blocks, lighting, and storage rack will help us to create a space for calm, grounding, and learning. Yoga and mindfulness should be accessible to all, please support me in bringing these tools to my amazing students.
