My Project
I love how my students bring energy, curiosity, and a willingness to try new things every day. They are creative thinkers who learn best when they can connect lessons to real-life experiences. In Family and Consumer Sciences, we focus on skills that help prepare them for the future—responsibility, empathy, time management, and problem-solving—and this project is the perfect way to bring those skills to life.
By creating their own flour babies, students will step into the role of a caregiver, experiencing firsthand the challenges and rewards of caring for a child.
This activity allows them to learn in a fun, hands-on way while also encouraging accountability and teamwork. The supplies I’m requesting—flour, blankets, baby clothes, building and designing materials to create a baby, and baby care accessories—will make it possible for each student to create and care for their own “baby” throughout the project. These resources will help them apply what they’ve learned in class to a tangible, memorable experience that they will carry with them long after the project ends.
