Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our 125 kindergarten students attend a Title I elementary school in Indianapolis. The students in our school come from a wide range of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our school is very diverse, but all of our kindergarten students come to school excited to learn and play each day!
As a brand new school, our facility is great, but we are just starting to seek funding for all of the important pieces that make kindergarten that special place we all remember in our hearts.
At our school, each grade level has a common space to share. It is my vision to transform the kindergarten common space into an area of curiosity, discovery, and creativity for all students!
My Project
you have fond memories of kindergarten? Do they include snacks, naps, and playtime? What if I told you none of that exists in the typical kindergarten classroom anymore?
Research tells us that children learn best through play, and while play is making a comeback in kindergarten classrooms across the country, it could use a little help along the way.
As part of Phase I for transforming our common space into a space where children can learn through play, we are developing a "puzzles and games" station where children can work on developing their logical thinking skills, spatial awareness, and cooperation skills.
This classic kindergarten classroom component in missing at our school right now, but with your help we can fix that!
The goal of this project is to raise funding for some thematic floor puzzles and storage bins to get a started- we will have so much fun learning through play at this station with your help!!
