Floor Hockey Heroes

My students need physical education equipment, floor hockey sticks, and soccer nets.

My Students

My classroom motto is "wake up with determination and go to sleep with satisfaction." This quote is relevant to every aspect of a students academic, social and spiritual life. Students rarely realize how much work it takes to succeed and I strive to give them the tools necessary to succeed.

My students are a diverse group of students some students have come from war torn countries and refugees, some have gotten kicked out of their local charter schools and some students are from the neighborhood.

My physical education class provides students with a meeting place sharing of cultures, building friendships and learning languages. My classroom provides the unique opportunity and the catalysts for new and for cross cultural friendships. I have observed the Nepali students bond with American born students over basketball I have created cross cultural team work during kick ball and I have heard positive encouragement between students who do not speak the same language. Sports and physical education provides the students who on the surface seem like they have nothing in common - but in all honesty are able to relate to each more then they could ever imagine.

My Project

The resources I am requesting floor hockey sticks that will be used in my classroom to promote teamwork, positive encouragement and to provide an opportunity for success. Not all students are gifted athletically nor are some blessed with the confidence to try new things but floor hockey is a game that provides an opportunity for everyone to be successful, to have fun and to participate.

Donations to my classroom will improve my classroom morale, create new friendships, foster a love of physical activity and decrease their sedentary lifestyle.

When students have confidence and resources for different activities they are going to participate and give 100% of themselves to the game. When students are feeling confident and working as a team new friendships will emerge enriching students lives. When we increase physical activity we create motivated and successful adults.
