My Students

My students come from a multitude of backgrounds. They do all have one thing in common. They are all economically challenged. I teach in one of the highest poverty areas in the city. When they come in the classroom, the kids can, hopefully, leave their troubles at the door, and most do. They strive to do their very best at all they do and really want to please their parents and all adults. My "kids" are incredible, and most are a true inspiration to me each morning when I see their smiling faces.

My Project

Vocabulary is so important to a student’s ability to read fluently. I am hoping to secure a yearlong subscription to Flocabulary to help boost student vocabulary.

Many of my students are English Language learners and need intensive instruction in vocabulary to build their language fluency.

I also have included a book by Marzano on games to build vocabulary. Also, I have asked for a great class or group game to play for vocabulary. These items will be used along with my reading materials to help students become fluent readers and English speakers. Thank you for considering my project to boost student’s vocabulary.
