This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Taking a break from technology is an enjoyable task for my students. Students will create handwritten flashcards for each of the 50 United States.

These colorful flashcards will help my students memorize states and capitals by sorting them into the five regions of the US.

The students will learn one region at a time. They will use their flashcards to quiz each other, or themselves, on the spelling and the capital for each state. My students love taking on the role of teacher and quizzing their classmates. My 5th graders will also be responsible for knowing the location of each state for each region by using a color coded map.
