My Students

We are flipping for technology. I would love to have a Flip camcorder to model positive classroom behaviors, expectations, and individual student successes.

Welcome to an Elementary Autistic Support Classroom.

I teach students with moderate to severe autism. These students qualify as Exceptional Children. Our classroom is in a low-income, high needs school where 75% of the students live in poverty. By federal guidelines, we are considered a Title-1 school and considered a Focus School by County guidelines.

My Project

Based on budget costs and cuts, my classroom does not have enough money to buy enough supplies to support our students' individual needs. In my classroom, we are currently working on identifying the letters of the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, as well as many other individualized skills. Living with Autism is a daily challenge and struggle for my students. Currently, five of my students are non-verbal and require a very intensive structured classroom that revolves around hands-on learning. Our classroom would love to have a Flip camcorder. With this camcorder, I will be able to model positive student behaviors and expectations. I will be able to capture each student’s success to create a video portfolio. My students are not all able to complete paper/pencil work. A lot of learning is done with manipulatives. The Flip camcorder will enable me to video the students while they are engaged in learning.

By funding this project, my students will be able to see themselves being a positive role models, meeting high expectations, and achieving success on their individual goals.
