I work at a small elementary school a block away from a gorgeous beach with stunning mountains behind. Unfortunately, while the scenery provides a small bit of relief, the majority of students struggle with poverty and the classroom may be their only safe space. My students are eager and engaged with their learning, however, I can see the importance of school slowly fading to them as they reach middle school age. The majority of my students do not have the affinity for technology that most kids their age have and would much rather be outside or doing hands-on activities. I aim to find new ways to make online learning as interactive and engaging as possibe.
My Project
This course will provide me with the knowledge to interact and guide students through their work on a daily basis rather than spending each class lecturing and providing content. I will learn different strategies to provide students with the flexibility to learn the content at their own pace by creating videos so that students can pause the video, watch the video when it is convenient for them, and replay the video as many times as they would like.
Meeting these goals will, in turn, provide a foundation for better adjustment and academic performance.
It will provide students with an individualized learning pace, the flexibility to pause and replay the educational videos, and more interaction time between the teacher and students.
