Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you wish you could impact change neighborhoods with high crime? Giving to this project will help educate and expose impoverished students to Singapore math through technology. Students will hone basic math and problem solving skills with teacher created interactive videos.

These students are in a city of diverse ethnic backgrounds in a densely populated, impoverished area.

Students often arrive with little previous education or health care, so the teachers and school system must provide a great deal of nurturing in addition to education. Students are fed a nutritious, free breakfast and lunch and are provided with after school activities to reduce time spent alone in the apartments. What is missing is technology to run an up-to-date classroom.

My Project

The latest educational concept of a Flipped Classroom will only be possible with the donation of technology with which to view educational math interactive lessons. I have asked for 2 iPads that will be used on a rotating basis among students. Students are taught Digital Citizenship, along with using manipulatives to learn 2 and 3 digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. Problem solving to use thinking skills is emphasized in Singapore Math lessons. How to log on, treat carefully, and be safe using technology are lessons embedded within the math components. Students will eventually create personal learning videos for higher Blooms applications.
