This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever been sitting in Ferris Bueller's classroom with the time slowly passing? All you can do is sit and wonder if the teacher will ever speak your language. Students today are digital natives who communicate through technology. Help us to speak the same language.

My classroom: 90% free and reduced price lunch 30% LEP limited English proficient 88% Minority We are a Spanish Dual Language Academy embracing native traditions and languages from all cultures.

Our school is in the first year of Leader In Me implementation. These two programs embody the characteristics we strive to attain in our classroom. While being accepting of others, my students synergize to develop themselves as leaders and embrace the characteristics of lifelong learners.

My Project

Through the use of an iPad my students' engagement level will increase and they will be excited about learning. This year, through the use of my personal iPad, it was evident students were more engaged with the American Revolution while using a free app. Math stamina and understanding was increased through using QR codes to problem solve. Using my iPad, a collaborative team of students was able to create a project to support our Force and Motion science unit. This varied instruction is what I wish to heighten in order to foster student choice and independence before my students graduate to middle school.

My students are sponges, eager to soak up what technology and this world has to offer.

However at times they lack the motivation to focus and follow through with good work habits. The use of technology, more specifically an iPad, will move us in a positive direction. I have seen this firsthand by using my personal device. My wish is to use the flipped classroom model to provide a student centered environment and offer student choice. I need an iPad to ignite this vision in my classroom.
