My students come from a variety of backgrounds and socio-economic levels. Many are proficient, yet some struggle with academics and find school challenging. The average third grader in my class has parents who support their education, however, are working, middle-class adults who cannot be as involved as they want to be.
All of the kids who come through my door have a desire to excel in mathematics.
They enjoy engaging activities, and learning different strategies to help them be successful. My students are all unique in their own way!
My Project
As education keeps changing, one thing is for sure. The students learn differently, and therefore, classrooms need to adjust and adapt to their learning needs. I'd like to begin providing my third graders with many options that they can use throughout the day. Research shows that students learn better when they have choices in their learning, as well as a comfortable learning environment.
Lap desks will provide a work space away from their desks, and lamination and bins are for creating engaging activities to keep students involved in math centers.
These items will jump start my classroom to becoming more adapted to the students these days.
