My students need flexible seating options to enhance their experience in the classroom.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. McVey's classroom raised $537

My Students
My students are high-functioning middle school students with autism, as well as students with a multitude of other learning disabilities within the New York City public school system. This year we are having our first ever NEST class. We are looking for funding for classroom furniture such as flexible seating options and workstations, art supplies for hands-on crafts and acitivities, and manipulatives to overall enhance the student's learning experience in ways best suitable for each individual student in the classroom. The more options we as educators can provide, the more opportunities students have to make the classroom a welcoming and supportive environment. We are seeking support from DonorsChoose to provide necessary supplies to improve the student's experience!
My Project
We are very excited to being a new school year and teach our first ever NEST classes in our school. NEST classes are designed to include high functioning students with autism in the general education curriculum with appropriate and necessary accommodations. The materials that we are seeking on DonorsChoose are classroom furniture in the form of flexible seating. This includes wobble chairs, floor seats, and yoga balls.
Having the opportunity to create different areas in the classroom and include flexible seating options will overall enhance the student's learning experience in ways best suitable for each individual student in the classroom.
Receiving funding for the wobble chairs will give more students the opportunity to utilize them in class to ease that restlessness that can accompany being in a class all day. The more options we as educators can provide, the more opportunities students have to make the classroom a welcoming and supportive environment. We are seeking support from DonorsChoose to provide necessary supplies to improve the student's experience!
