Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are lovely third grade students who are eager to learn using new innovating approaches. The students attend a Title I school, where the budget has had an impact on the resources available to them. The students live in low-income neighborhood, where one community park has become their savior and has become their only outdoor outreach.
My students are learners with disabilities, such as learning disability, speech and language impairment, etc.
Their class setting is a self-contained classroom with a teacher and a teacher assistant. These students are entering the third grade already two or more years behind academically. These scholars are beyond ready to succeed in life.
My Project
I would like to give my students an opportunity to learn in new innovating ways rather than the old school traditional way. With flexible seating, my students can choose their preference of where to work. The best part of these items is it allows students to work independently and in groups.
My ultimate goal is to give my students more ownership of their learning by promoting student choice.
It is important to give all students a chance to discover where they preference of learning is. Providing different areas and modes of seating, students will feel valued. Furthermore, some students just learn best in different learning environments, not solely desks and chairs.
