My students need flexible seating options including chair fidget bands, wobble cushions, and bean bag chairs to maintain student focus and collaboration.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a 6th grade math and science teacher in a high-poverty school district. My students face many different challenges each day. These bright, lovable kids come from diverse homes; however, there is one thing they all have in common. The one thing they share is that they all have different learning capabilities.
I want to instill a love of learning in these kids that struggle with basic core academic skills and concepts associated with literacy, math and science.
My hope to encourage enough growth in their skills to develop a level of confidence in them that they can all achieve and be successful.
My Project
The use of flexible seating in the classroom is a luxury of the 21st century. Flexible seating will help take my students' learning to the next level through collaboration. Allowing more flexible seating options will help students maintain focus and provide a comfortable learning environment to help my students reach their full learning potentials.
Each student learns differently, so the use of flexible seating will provide a positive atmosphere in which my students will maintain focus and understanding of concepts being taught.
Being able to offer this type of collaboration will increase my student achievement. Using more flexible seating options including bungee chairs, wobble cushions, and ball chairs will allow them to explore different avenues of learning.
