This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students currently are enjoying some options for flexible seating. However, this group of students thrive on independent workspaces, choices, and a flexible learning environment. I have used flexible seating in the past and see a tremendous growth and amount of student independence and work accountability when they are able to choose their seating options.

It is important to provide students with the opportunity to have a safe and comfortable environment- no matter what that looks like for the individual student.

Individuals learn best when they feel that they are in a safe and comfortable environment. Not every student feels comfortable at a desk and chair that is provided by school systems. This is why this project is requesting wobble chairs, stools, clipboards and fidget chair bands. I want my students to feel ownership over their classroom environment and comfortable with their learning environment.
