This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Flexible seating allows my students to make choices that are best for them on any given day. During independent practice time, my students can choose to work in a quiet area with pillows, tents, or bean bags. They can choose to work at or under a desk with other students and clipboards. The students that feel as if they need help from a peer can go sit in our camping area in the back and ask questions or clarification on assignments without disrupting others working quietly. My students have been making great choices for themselves, been more engaged, and getting work completed in the different flexible seating areas.
I have been amazed by how well my students have made choices that are best for them.
I have had less behavior issues since starting the flexible seating. Students feel more confident in their assignments because they are free to go to a quit help area when needed.
The products I have chosen are wobble chairs that I would like to put at a small group table. I have many students who need the extra movement when working in a group to help them focus. The chairs are also adjustable and will be able to be used at a taller table when needed. I believe the extra movement of the chairs will be very beneficial to my little wigglers and I can't wait to see how well they do with this seating type.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give my kiddos!
