My Students
Our 1st graders live in NYC and come from a variety of backgrounds. Our 1st-grade classrooms are places where students are equals and respected. Our school provides many opportunities for students.
Our 1st-grade team is ordering supplies to make our classrooms more student-friendly and student centered. We are interested in exploring flexible seating options to help all students learn in their best environment. Whether that means a desk on the rug, standing up, a wobbly stool, or a bench near their classmates, we want to create the best environment possible!
My Project
Our 1st-grade team has joined together to choose the items our classrooms need most. This project will be supporting four general education classes, one ICT class, and two gifted classes. Overall this project will be helping 125 students!
Our students need flexible seating options so that they can create their best working environment. We have chosen wobble stools, lap desks, bouncy bands, rocker chairs, a bench, and comfy floor seats to create many different learning spaces.
Our students also need pocket charts for math and calendar time. By counting the days of school students will develop a better number sense and place value skills.
Some teachers are also requesting push lights to have a visual to show their students when they are reading and when they are stopping to think!
