My Project
Flexible seating is an important addition to middle school classrooms. At this age, students are experiencing rapid physical, emotional, and cognitive growth, which makes traditional, rigid seating less effective. Flexible seating, options like stools, cushions, standing desks, and soft chairs, helps meet diverse student needs by allowing movement, choice, and comfort.
It supports better focus and engagement, especially for students who struggle with sitting still for long periods.
Flexible seating also encourages collaboration, builds a sense of ownership over learning spaces, and can reduce anxiety by offering students control over where and how they work best. Overall, it creates a more dynamic, inclusive, and student-centered environment that helps middle schoolers thrive both academically and socially.
