I work with students with a huge array of needs, brought together by their desire to do well. Many of the students I work with have a history of academic failure. This can and frequently leads to increased difficulty with behavior, social-emotional well-being, and decreased levels of motivation and outlook for their future. The students I work with have diverse abilities, needs and backgrounds. They are united in the struggle of navigating the academic, social, and emotional trials of the high school experience.
All students want to do well, and will do well when given the tools and skills to do so.
As a school psychologist, I work to support groups of high needs students to learn and develop academic, social-emotional, and behavioral skills.
My Project
Learning is hard work! It's made even harder when you're trying to direct your attention to sitting still, stopping wiggling, and just staying in your seat.
Flexible seating helps with flexible learners so ALL students are better able to access their education.
These stools will be made available to students who may benefit from alternative seating solutions. Movement can help wiggly learners do a better job of paying attention, completing work, and feeling successful in the classroom environment.
Hokki stools have a small footprint in the classroom, taking up little space and not being a distraction for peers or the teacher. As little as they are, hokki stools have a huge impact on student learning by allowing flexible seating for flexible learners.
