My Students
My students are the best, but I may be slightly biased because they are mine! I work in an inner city Chicago Public School on the northwest side of Chicago. Our school is in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the city. We have students from all over the world and over 40 different languages are spoken within our community.
Currently, I teach a group of 25 diverse, energetic, kind, and caring second graders who are eager to learn and genuinely love coming to school.
All of my students come from many different backgrounds. The learning styles and academic abilities are quite vast, giving me the opportunity to provide a very tailored plan to suit their academic and social emotional needs. Although the needs vary, we have one thing in common...our dedication to learning!
My Project
Flexible seating is going to be such a huge part of our classroom. In order to complete the vision of this type of seating, each table will offer a specific type of seating. This is where your help comes in to play!
Giving students the freedom and choice in their seating options plays a large role in high student engagement.
My students need 4 stability disks (wiggle cushions). They will be able to sit comfortably at their seat and move in a way that is not distracting to others. They also need meditation floor cushions which will allow them to sit on the floor at a low table comfortably if they so choose. The dorm chair will give my students options to read to self in whatever area of the room they want. Having many different options is going to be the key to our success and we need your help!
