Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Bouncy bands offer significant advantages for middle school English Language Learners, particularly those with co-occurring disabilities. The gentle resistance and movement they provide can dramatically improve focus and reduce fidgeting, crucial for students processing a new language and potentially grappling with sensory or attention challenges. This subtle input aids in self-regulation, allowing students to better attend to complex English instruction and participate more actively in class discussions. For ELLs with disabilities, who often benefit from multi-sensory approaches, bouncy bands create an accessible and inclusive learning environment, fostering greater engagement, reduced anxiety, and ultimately, enhanced academic performance in English language acquisition.
Bouncy bands make it possible for students to self regulate in order to acquire language skills necessary to succeed in the classroom and the world at large.
