My Project
My students this year have more sensory needs than in years past. I have several students who struggle to sit still and complete their work. The standing desk is a favorite, but only one student can work there at a time. They were excited about keeping tennis balls under their desk to roll, but the novelty has worn off and they are back to rocking unsafely in their chairs. The rocking not only makes it difficult for them to focus but difficult for those around them to focus as well.
They are a very smart group of students, but the restlessness is having a greater impact on them as the winter months draw on.
The wobble stools provide them with a safe alternate to rocking in their chairs. The balance boards, foot rollers, and under-chair cushions are subtle tools students can keep under their desks to get wiggles out without disturbing those around them. The variety of tools will also allow students to rotate through the tools so they don't become bored with the same tool.
