This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In today’s classroom, students need more than just traditional desks and chairs to thrive. By introducing lap desks, beanbags, and floor seats, I am aiming to provide options that help my students feel comfortable, engaged, and motivated throughout the day. These flexible seating choices support various learning styles and offer physical comfort that enhances focus.

Lap desks encourage movement and provide a more relaxed atmosphere for independent or collaborative work.

This helps foster creativity and can boost productivity, especially for students who may find sitting at a traditional desk for long periods uncomfortable or restrictive.

Beanbags and floor seats create a cozy, inviting space that can be used for reading, group work, or independent study. They are ideal for students who might need a change of scenery to help reset their focus. Research shows that when students are comfortable, their ability to concentrate and retain information improves. Plus, beanbags add a fun, non-traditional touch to the classroom that can make learning feel more enjoyable.

By having these seating options available, I can meet the diverse needs of my students, allowing them to find the space where they feel most productive and comfortable. Ultimately, these flexible choices will help foster a sense of ownership over their learning and support a classroom culture where students feel respected, comfortable, and empowered to succeed.
