Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Going into my fifth year of teaching where 90% of my students receive free/reduced lunch. I know my students are faced with challenges daily that they cannot control. This year is especially more difficult with COVID-19 for my students and their families.

Even with all the obstacles my students face daily they come to school excited and ready to learn.

My students may face tough challenges, but its my job to help them overcome them. I do my best to make sure my students have up to date resources, materials they need to be successful, and most importantly that their basic needs are met each day they come to school.

My Project

With all the COVID restrictions and procedures we have to follow, students are confined to a desk and chair most of the day. I want to help make their school experience more enjoyable despite all our challenges we continue to face. My students are almost half way through the year and I can tell it's becoming more and more difficult for them to sit comfortably in their seats.

Adding a bouncing band and a wobble cushion to their chair will help give them more movement while staying safe at their seats.

This project will help my students stay more focused on their learning, so they can continue to grow each day.
