This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school. Our students come from a variety of economic backgrounds with over 70% receiving free lunch. Our school is one of the few Spanish immersion schools in the district.

My students are curious about the world around them.

This year, I'm teaching four fourth grade science and English classes. They are smart children who love to learn. They love to engage in hands-on activities that will not only promote growth but will encourage them to keep learning.

My Project

I would like to offer flexible seating in my classroom. These seats will help students stay focused during class yet allow them to wiggle around. Wiggle seats are backless stools with a rounded base that allows kids to rock and swivel at their desks without disrupting the class.

Moving around, helps their brain focus better, it helps them pay attention and helps them actually learn better because their central nervous system is getting what they need.

Instead of asking students to sit still, why not give them what they need, to move around.
