Help me give my students different flexible seating options to use while we are learning. Flexible seating assists with students attention, as well allowing a way for students to appropriately release some of their built up energy.

My Students
I teach students in a self-contained Access Points classroom. I have nine student between second and third grade. All of the students in my classroom are diagnosed with an intellectual disability or Autism. Some of the students in my classroom are able to express themselves verbally, while other students express themselves though gestures and pictures. In my classroom, not only are we working on academic skills, but we are also working on social skills, independent functioning skills, and communication skills. All of the students in my classroom are on an alternate curriculum. My students benefit greatly from sensory input techniques, as well as sensory breaks that are given throughout the day.
My Project
Using flexible seating with my students is very important. Students are often able to attend to lessons, as well as focus more effectively, when flexible seating is put into place. It also allows students to appropriately release their built up energy and anxiety that they may have throughout the day.
My goal is to have student being able to make a selection on which type of flexible seating they would like to use depending on the situation.
For example, if a student feels as though they can focus better by bouncing on a chair, rather than sitting on a stool, they are able to make this selection. This also is working on my students being able to advocate for themselves and their specific needs that that they are feeling at the time. Flexible seating is great for students with special needs and their learning!
