This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first year teacher in a low-income school district. Many of my students struggle to complete school work at home because of a lack of supplies. As a special education teacher, many of my students struggle academically and have fallen below grade level.

While they face many challenges, my students are ready to learn!

When given the right tools, my students are motivated to better themselves. They work hard each and every day at improving reading, writing, and math skills.

My Project

Flexible seating in the classroom provides my students the opportunity to do their learning somewhere other than their desk. Sitting at a desk all day long can get boring and uncomfortable for my students. I want to provide my students with flexible seating to support an engaging learning environment.

With these flex-space materials, my students will have multiple seating choices.

Bean bags will be used during activities such as independent reading. Wobble cushions will be used during small group work with teachers. Wobble cushions can be used on the floor or in chairs and help my students focus as they move.
