Flexible Seating

Help me give my students flexible seating options to learn without being confined to their desks; my second graders will be able to move about the room in a comfortable flexible seating environment.

My Students

I have been teaching for over 13 years in an urban area. It has been the most difficult, exciting, frustrating, motivating, challenging, and inspiring position I ever had. My school is located in an economically disadvantaged neighborhood with more than three-quarters of students from low-income households. My students are eager to learn, they love to explore and discover engaging activities independently around the classroom. It is my goal to empower my students to be responsible for their learning, by having the option of flexible seating would make it comfortable for them to learn at their own level. I have a desire to help my students, but often times when my creative resources run dry or are not available, I have to resort to spending my personal funds. My students deserve to have the best and be the best they can; sometimes it takes more funding and additional resources to make that happen.

My Project

My second-grade mathematicians love to move about the room to learn. The clipboards will give them options to collaborate with a hard surface to write on. As my students move about to their various learning stations the clipboards will be a useful item. I would like to differentiate my assignments so the students can feel successful and learn at their own pace. The bean bags and ottoman chairs will give my students options of making themselves comfortable. Your donation would help enhance the environment of the classroom and help my students learn in a fun, safe and comfortable learning environment.
