Ms. Huffman from Dallas TX is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students flexible seating. The balance ball seat bundle will give them the opportunity to expend that energy constructively.

I teach in a low-income area. My students are the most delightful group of kids out there. Regardless of what happens before they come to school, they come ready to tackle whatever we need to face during the day. They have gaps, but they don't let that hold them back. I had a student recently whose parents told him that they were going to have to move. He wrote them a letter pointing out all of the great things about our school and why it wouldn't be a good idea for him to leave.
They don't always have a lot, but they bring everything they've got every day.
Due to their situations, they have become really great at problem solving. We work really hard at trying to keep a Growth Mindset, and there are days when they have to remind me to keep my chin up. One day, I said to myself, "Gosh, I'm such a dork!" Immediately, there were students saying things like, "No you're not! Don't say that about yourself!" But one student looked me in the eye and said, "No you're a strong person! Never say that about yourself!" I am so lucky to be their teacher.
Many of the students in my classes have energy just waiting to come out. We can often times help students expell some of that energy, but there are days when opportunities don’t present themselves often enough. It’s during these times that some students suffer.
Flexible seating allows students the outlets necessary to get rid of excess energy in constructive ways.
The Balance Balls will provide students with opportunity to move in ways that expell energy to allow them to focus. It will also help other students in the class focus by not being distracted by the excessive movements of others.
