I teach fourth grade at an awesome Title I, neighborhood school in Coconut Creek, Florida. My students are a diverse group with various learning needs and challenges. Many come from different countries. For many of them English is their second language. My students are motivated by hands-on, real-world, engaging activities. They love reading and math and learning new concepts daily.
We are a Title I school which means that more than 60% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches.
My Project
My students need wobble cushions for flexible seating to use during reading group time. Trying to keep students engaged is often difficult. Providing my students with learning disabilities the opportunity to choose a comfortable spot around the room to engage in reading is crucial to learning.
Flexible seating will provide my students the opportunity to stay focused during "read to self".
They will be able to sit comfortably and enjoy a great book!
In addition, my students need privacy dividers in order to prevent distractions while reading, working, and/or test taking. These dividers will allow those students that have a difficult time focusing remain engaged and on task.
