My students need flexible seating for their fidgety bodies. My classroom serves as an escape for them and very often an opportunity to be as active and fidgety as possible. A judgment free zone!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are nothing short of amazing! They are the reason why I stay at my school and get up every morning to give them my all. We are located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley in a zone where many families are facing economic hardships. I have had the privilege of visiting most of my students at their homes and have discovered that many live in multiple dwelling houses. The last visit I made left me devastated. I found myself in a small room that this student calls home. Quickly I realized he didn’t have sufficient lighting nor a table to eat on or do his homework. This is just one example of a student who is defying the odds, overcoming the achievement gap, and working hard to succeed academically. This is the difference we are making in our school community.
My Project
My kindergarten cuties are always moving. Wobble stools, ball chairs, and soft seats will help them move around while still remaining in their seats. We conduct centers for language arts, math, and English language development therefore as they are rotating around the room they will encounter different ways to move and exercise while working. I service several mainstreamed special needs students that could benefit from flexible seating. They will be able to bounce, relax, and wobble their anxieties away. These flexible seating opportunities would help them get out the wiggles while trying to stay engaged and productive. Please help me in making this possible. Thank you for your generosity!
