Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school serves students in grades fourth through eighth grade in Red Bank, New Jersey. My fifth grade class consists of fifty engaged and curious learners and many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced price lunch. As a school community, our number one goal is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment where our students can grasp, explore and challenge the concepts taught in order to grow as students and individuals. We also strive to provide students with the opportunity to successfully take the skill-set learned within the classroom and apply it outside of the classroom and apply it in their daily lives.
My Project
In our classroom, we are encouraging kids to learn, adopt and practice healthy posture while building core strength from active sitting and play such as working at their desk in the classroom via flexible seating.

Through the use of Stay-N-Play balls and the Wobble chair, students will be able to engage in meaningful learning while allowing students to rid themselves from distracting behaviors; therefore, providing students with the opportunity to be successful within the classroom. Not only does flexible seating promote healthy behaviors and rid students from distracting behaviors, but it also promotes appropriate social skills, causing students to communicate clearly in order to express what they want or need.
