it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My scholars are rock stars! We are part of a Title I school and 77 percent of my students come from low socioeconomic families, receiving free/reduced lunch, but learning is one thing that keeps on going! My students give me the drive and purpose. When they are at school, they are lighthearted, driven scholars; and there with one purpose, to learn. They put aside their external concerns to just enjoy being at school and being surrounded by their supportive peers and educators. In class, we work as a supportive team to help each other.

In my classroom, students become college-prepared and empowered to become lifelong learners. Scientists, engineers, educators, and many other professionals are produced. My students are striving daily to become global citizens who will make a positive difference in the world regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. We are leaving our future to them. Investing in their education is the best investment you can make!
My Project
Beginning of this school year, I transformed my classroom into a flexible seating classroom. I had help through Donors Choose to provide a large seating carpet for my students, but the rest of the seating options were self purchased. I was really motivated to make this change and since then, I have seen drastic improvements in student learning and behavior in the classroom. Additionally, every year, I have several students with special needs (ADHD, autism, and specific learning disabilities), and this year I have 6 students with special needs. They love it! Their parents love it! I was able to provide 22 seating options for my students including bounce balls, stools, bean bags, and crate chairs.
I would like to complete my flexible seating classroom from 69% to 100% by receiving your help!
I have yearly 32 students and 10 students are left out and need to sit in a traditional chair. I would like to keep the sturdy chairs, but add on the wobble cushion to enhance their learning experience. The 4 who sit on the floor use clip boards and have no tables to support their books.
Teaching at a Title 1 school comes with many challenges, but my main challenge it to keep students actively engaged during reading and writing. From my experience this year, students show higher quality writing and comprehension when they are actively engaged. As our society and needs of our students change, so should my classroom. I am so close! I want to provide every single student in my class the equal opportunity of seating flexibility. I know your help will increase their productivity and quality of writing and reading.
