My students need flexible seating options in my gifted classroom! Two-thirds of my class are boys, many of whom have sensory processing issues, so different seating options will help them shine!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a combo 2nd and 3rd grade classroom of gifted children.

The students in my gifted classroom are able to process information at a higher level than most students their age.

However, many of my students have sensory processing issues that keep them from being able to focus on their classwork.

In my classroom we focus on exposure to science and math-based job opportunities, STEM projects, hands-on lessons, and project-based learning. The students in my class need less repetitions than most kids to master information, so we are able to move at a faster pace than their grade-level peers.

My Project

Gifted kids with sensory processing disorders have a hard time receiving and processing information that comes in through the senses. Many of these students are unable to focus on work because they are fixated on sensory input.

These flexible seating options will help my gifted students focus on the classwork and show their true potential!

2/3 of my students are boys, so the energy level in my classroom is high to say the very least!

The seats I have selected will help these "movers and shakers" get their wiggles out while allowing them to have important conversations with classmates and completing assignments.
