I teach 6th grade math and science and 6th-8th grade cooking at a Title One School. All our students receive free breakfast and lunch. A large percent of our students are English language learners. My students love doing collaborative projects that allow them to be creative and have the freedom to express themselves. They are incredibly passionate, creative, and hard working.
My students are incredibly empathetic.
I teach in a fully inclusive classroom so my kids are always going above and beyond to help others and understand their perspectives. They are so supportive of one another and I feel so lucky that I am able to work with them on a daily!
My Project
My students are incredibly hard working and unique. They love movement and are very energetic. Many of my students benefit from movement breaks in my class and like the freedom to be able to choose where to sit comfortably. I noticed in the flexible seating I do have, they are able to focus more on their learning simply because they feel more comfortable than when in a regular chair.
School is their safe place.
I want to be able to provide my students with a more comfortable learning environment to help them focus, as well as support more opportunities for movement and collaboration. Flexible seating gives students more choice when learning in the classroom.
