My Students

I have beyond blessed with such a CARING group of students. They instantly support one another in times of need and success. In my classroom, we are a family. Though we are all different, we have similarities that bring us together.

I am a 4th grade teacher at a Title I elementary school in Brandon Township, Michigan.

My kids are active, curious, and put a smile on my face every day! They enjoy being hands on, and my goal is to also make sure that they are also always "minds-on" at all times with their learning.

My Project

At the beginning of the school year I introduced my students to our first flexible seating option. After seeing my students using the 4 wobbly stools, I was convinced within the first week of how strong of a tool they are. They are able to move and work, which has increased their ability to focus and persevere in time-consuming tasks. It has promoted independence. Kids were given the responsibility of making a choice.

Providing my kids with an option other than traditional seating, gave them the power to choose what helps them be a stronger learner.

I would love to give more of my students the ability to make these powerful choices by broadening the types of seating available to them.
