Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with two wonderful groups of First Graders! My students are English Language Learners in a low-income, at-risk, Title I school; 80% of my students receive free or reduced lunch. We have limited resources, but my students enthusiastic desire to learn is limitless.
My students have a dream to become our future nurses, policemen and teachers; and I want to help them reach their goals !
The diversity in my classroom is not only defined by language and culture, but also by learning styles and special needs. I have always adjusted my teaching to my students' necessities; now it is time to continue adjusting our classroom physical environment to a flexible one to help my little ones to be more focused and successful.
My Project
The resources I chose for my project will allow my students to select among a variety of seating options. The Stand-Up Desks will help my students to reduce sedentary time and improve their physical health while their are focus in our lessons. The Balance Ball Chairs will benefit students who needs to wiggle in order to improve their learning. The Surf-Portable Lap Desk will be another flexible alternative to do their best job.
I am sure each one of the donations will tremendously add to my students' engagement on their learning processes.
By having a Flexible Classroom with multiple choices, my students will be more active, engaged, enthusiastic, and confident. They will have the opportunity to decide on the "best classroom place" for doing their "best academic work".
