Flexible Seating to Help Amazing Students with Special Needs!
Help me give my students with special needs the tools and resources they need to help them calm down when faced with big emotions, and ability to "wiggle" while they learn to increase student achievement!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my class are 3-5th graders with a variety of special needs and learning abilities. Every student does not learn in the same way, so it is our job to provide them with different tools and resources to individualize their learning to help them be the best student possible!
Students in my title one school carry emotional burdens from home into the classroom.
A large number of students have experienced some type of trauma throughout their lives.
Students who have experienced trauma enjoy being able to have choices throughout the day. By funding the project, students will have a choice where they sit, and a calm down area that can be used when they are overwhelmed."When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it’s our job to share our calm, not to join their chaos."
My Project
Thank you for helping me create a calm and positive enviorment for students with special needs! The students in my school come from homes that are unfortunately extremely unsafe. This leaves school to be their "safe place". By providing my students with these flexible seating options, my classroom will become a home away from home for these amazing and resilent students.
The flexible seating options allow students who have special needs and often have a hard time sitting still in a normal chair, the opportunity to move while they learn.
This will increase their ability to focus and feeling of success!
