Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are teens on a path to success. We service a district whose adolescents required a lot of home-grown love. We are proud to provide the educational, social and psychological supports for our students. We pride ourselves in creating a safe and respectful environment for our students to learn and succeed. At our school, our kids are at home.
Our school's heart and soul is our students and we proudly service a primarily Latino and African-American population.
Our students are committed to succeeding and we are committed to providing them the best environment to do it.
My Project
Our seniors are quickly entering a fast-paced world where they must learn to adapt to the established political, social and economic systems in order to get ahead. In their senior year, civics and economics are intended to prepare them to make the best decisions possible as new adults. However, this course is intended to show the role that they, as minorities, contribute directly and influence the world around them as well as illuminating their role in either maintaining or disrupting the status quo.
In order to best educate our students, a typical classroom set-up won't cut it.
A flexible seating environment is intended to cater to different learning styles, aptitudes and struggles. With distinct seating choices such as roundtables, stools, bean bags and bubble chairs, students can both visualize the experience of acquiring content in different ways. The goal is for the new seating to encourage new ideas, foster communication, discussion with a Silicon Valley-esque vibe for inspiration.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
