As a reading and writing teacher, it is a goal of mine that my students are able to effectively work with and collaborate with their peers to accelerate their learning. I frequently have my students working with their peers on projects, in book clubs and to revise writing.
My students have an incredible desire to learn!
These flexible seating options like bean bags and floor seats will encourage social and emotional growth because my students will be able to comfortably sit with their groups. They will be able to focus on learning, because they will be sitting in a social setting, as opposed to a more formal desk and chairs.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, my students were just beginning their elementary education. Students need direct instruction and the opportunities to work with their peers on a daily basis to increase their ability to work with peers and collaborate on a shared goal. Their mental health will improve when they collaborate with their classmates on completing successful projects and lessons.
