#cbad is an opportunity for my children to build our community through read-alouds. Read-alouds give us a chance to laugh, cry and connect with one another. With schools likely moving to distance learning, or a hybrid-model, my children (and their siblings are always invited, too!) will be able to stay connected through these read-alouds. Read-alouds have introduced my children to different authors, illustrators, genres, formats and topics. Read-alouds build background knowledge and increase children's vocabulary, listening comprehension skills, word recognition skills and cognitive development. When I examined my library, in light of current events, I realized I am in great need of diverse books. Your donation will allow me to purchase books that will help all of my children find characters who are just like them.
