My students from the Metro Detroit area are poised to be leaders of our de-industrialized city. These students are enthusiastic about learning new material and find school to be an escape from what may be materializing at home. Our classroom is built upon social emotional learning, so we thrive on mindfulness and fostering deep love for who we are. We are learning how to effectively apply our knowledge and attitudes to manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others and establish and maintain positive relationships.
My students need flexible seating options to empower their ability to think outside of the box. If they are expected to transform the leadership in the Metro Detroit area, they need to visualize change. These little change agents are ready to learn in an environment that is as flexible as their ability to address problems within their community. Redesigning their work space will give them more choices, options and a powerful decision making capacity. I am confident that with new classroom seating, this will inspire my students to understand that changing the physical space can directly map towards an impact in their behavior and learning outcomes. Your donation will place Lakeshore Learning Materials in my classroom. These materials include comfy floor seats, comfy pillows and wobble cushions which will be used to diversify the seating options and provide comfortable choices for learners.
