The student population in my district is one where 1/3 of the families are at or below the poverty level.
My students are 6th graders who range in intellectual ability from those who excel in mathematics to those who struggle with mathematical concepts.
These students come to school each day longing for an education which is rich in knowledge, engagement, comfort and acceptance.
Choice seating in my classroom allows for many students to be risk free when it comes to getting involved in their learning.
My Project
At the beginning of this school year I created a project to allow my students to have flexible seating in the math classroom. Thanks to donors like you, the possibility became reality. My students were amazed at what we received, and the choices they had to be comfortable while learning.
Now that my students have had a couple months of experimenting with zenergy ball chairs, stools, Big Joe bean bag chairs and benches, we really see the benefit of getting more!
We would like it so that every student is afforded the opportunity to make a choice as to what kind of seat they would like to be in while they are learning math.
The comfort level these items provide in a highly demanding subject like math is phenomenal. Students love coming to class, even if it isn't their favorite subject.
