it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students live in a very low socioeconomic area and have been kept from their peers for the past two years. Now back in the classroom, I see that they struggle with communicating and forming relationships with the other students around them. With COVID-19 protocols still in place, they have not been able to use their skills to make meaningful and friendly relationships, resulting in a class that is struggling to feel like they belong. With this flexible seating, my students will be able to enjoy time in the classroom and be able to make connections with their peers and form real friendships. The fun seating and opportunities for the students to be closer together opened up the door to conversations where students can relate to each other, talk, and laugh as they as learning. Having this flexible seating in our classroom will not only help create opportunities for engagement, but it will also create opportunities for real relationships.
