As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I know my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
After a successful first year at Roosevelt, I am looking to continue to build the music program.
I am fortunate enough to have many generous donors donate to my projects this year. I am looking ahead for next year, hoping to continue to grow Roosevelt's music program!
My Project
My students sit behind desks all day long. I want them to come to music class and feel comfortable and be able to relax. I would like a large rug for my classroom so that my student have flexible seating options. It is difficult for my students to play the djembes and xylophones sitting in chairs. I believe that my students will be the most successful if they have a comfortable place to sit on the floor.
The rug has a staff and a ton of different music symbols on it!
This will make teaching these concepts so much more fun!
