The classroom is a place where students spend most of their time. It should be an environment that is welcoming, and safe. I teach 8th grade Reading at Don Giunta Middle; a Title 1 school. Most of my kids are from low income and single parent households, but are excited about learning.
Reading is an area where most kids struggle in a school.
My goal is to provide my students with a classroom environment that makes reading enjoyable and fun.
This project is to provide flexible seating in the classroom. Kids are in class for an extended period of time. Flexible seating will create an environment of comfort for the student. As adults, when we work, we want to be as comfortable as possible. This is the same for children.
My kids are at the age where they may have a hard time sitting still so the rotating/rolling chairs will allow them to move & fidget as needed but also helping them to remain focused on the learning.
Flexible seating is going to allow for seamless collaboration with partner/group work.
